Exhibitor Guide – General Livestock Department Rules
- The St. Louis County Agricultural Society & Fair Association reserves the right to turn away any animal.
- All must be in “Show” condition and be inspected by the Official Veterinarian to be acceptable for entry. Livestock known by the exhibitor to have an infectious, communicable disease, or to be from a quarantined herd or flock, may not be entered in an exhibition. WARTS AND RINGWORM are considered communicable diseases. Therefore, livestock affected by these diseases cannot be exhibited. A statement from a veterinarian that an animal is being treated for these diseases is NOT acceptable.
- The Official Veterinarian will be inspecting animals on the opening day and daily during the exhibition.
- Exhibitors should familiarize themselves with the state regulations regarding the exhibition of livestock by contacting the MN Board of Animal Health at 651-201-6809 or visiting their website at www.bah.st.mn.us. See website for tagging, tattooing, etc. requirements.
- Animals showing any sign of disease may NOT be exhibited.
- Exhibitors are responsible for the care of their own animals, including feeding and watering at least twice daily. Exhibitors must also keep the alleyways, in the barns clear and clean.
- Initial bedding will be provided for animals. Additional straw/shavings will be available – see superintendent.
- Livestock will remain in place until 5 pm Sunday (or at the discretion of the Superintendent) but must be out of the barns by 8 pm Sunday. No one will be responsible for animals after 8 pm.
- No smoking in the barns.
- No consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs in the barns.
- No bikes or dogs allowed in the barns.
- No riding in the barns.
- No grooming or tacking up of animals in the aisleway by anyone.
- The aisleway in front of your stall/pens must be kept clean and clear.
- No horseplay in the barns – running, pushing, water fights, etc.
- Manure must be put in designated areas – These will be marked.
- Stalls must be kept clean. Stalls should be kept in “show condition” at all times. It is up to you to clean your stall and the aisleway in front of it.
- All animal washing is to be done ONLY IN the designated washing areas. The Wash area must be kept clean and clear. You must bring your own equipment for cleaning.
